Not total protection but definitely safer than without
While I would not pull out the grill with my bare hands on immediately opening the oven at 200ยฐC, it is certainly less hot that the metal grill directly. Also, I did put one on my Cuisinart Toaster Oven grill and it works perfectly. Probably as long as the toaster oven is not set higher than the recommended heat, it works just like in the regular oven.

What a wonderful idea! I bought one when I saw it. The price is well worth preventing burns for all us in the family who bake. Seems to stay cool when the oven gets hot.
