A classic brush and comb set
Second things first: This comes well packaged in a nice, sturdy cardboard box, and would be easy to wrap with gift paper. For the right person to treasure it, it would make a wonderful gift.<br /><br />It's such a nice change to have something that is not plastic. This is a classic hair brush, and the comb is really unique. I haven't seen a comb like this, for forever. If my counter were not so cluttered, I would love to display this set. It really takes me back to my childhood. Lovely to have and to use.<br /><br />Update: I forgot to mention the very nice "homespun" type of bag that comes with it. Right now, I'm using it to store the brush and comb in my drawer, and it is very easy to open so I can use the brush and comb, and then put it back so it doesn't get anything on it. I also want to mention that after a few days of using the brush, it is such a wonderful brush -- it has a firm feeling as it goes across my long, but very fine hair, and doesn't rip and tear at it the way most brushes made of synthetic materials do.
I like the size of the brush
I have several brushes I use; paddle-shaped, all around bristles, and oval-shaped and this set seemed to have hit a sweet spot with me. The brush is slightly smaller than is the normal size I guess, but it fits my hand really well and is not attempting to handle more hair at once. the craftsmanship is comparable with others I have tried and should take on a nice patina with age.The comb is kind of sharp feeling to the scalp, so I took a sheet of sandpaper to it gently and that solved that issue. I like the comb size and the tines don't pull aggressively on tangles. Both of these have become my go to hair care products.
Very comfortable brush to use
When this set arrived the brush and comb had a VERY strong odor and I was fearful it would not dissipate. Thankfully after leaving the set out on a counter for a couple of days the scent went away. Maybe it's because I have very fine hair, but the comb felt too "sharp" on my scalp so I gave it to my husband for his short thick hair. The brush, however, is WONDERFUL. It feels great on my scalp and actually makes my hair look shinier! The homespun bag is a nice idea for travel to keep the brush clean.
