How sweet it is
Disclaimer: This is a mass-produced pastry from a large scale commercial bakery intended mostly for secondary markets and uses, such as motel breakfast bars, and for convenience sales at mini-marts and coffee shops and formulated for a long shelf life. It is not a product fresh from the oven nor is it a classic Danish pastry. But then, I knew all of that going in and so should any other purchaser. With all that in mind, for a convenience product, it is a very good sweet pastry. The raised pastry dough is flavorful and slightly sweet with a moist ('fresh'), soft crumb (meaning the interior of the 'bread'), and is hearty without being dense. Rather than the customary dollop of filling in the middle, the cherry and cheese fillings are spread in thin layers under the soft top crust, distributing the flavor across the roll. I like that. There are also squiggles of sweet frosting on top. So there you have it; considering the type of product and the price (I paid $12.99+$10.48 shipping), I rate it as very good.
