I was wonderfully surprised when this cleaver came. It is everything I had hoped it would be. It's heavy, and important to me, it looks really good. Even if you never used it, it looks good hanging up. It does work well. First thing, I opened a coconut with it. No problems!
For the price you cant beat it!
This is a wonderful cleaver. It is quite heavy, constructed only from metal. I did find it to be a little handle heavy. The cleaver itself is much more beautiful than the picture is able to show. It is reasonably sharp and is effective for both tenderizing and chopping and medium size meat tasks. I use it especially on chicken. I also use this cleaver when I am mincing herbs as it chops well and feels good and very sturdy in the hand. The shipping from this seller was top notch and the cleaver arrived much sooner than expected (considering it comes from Asia).<br /><br />Get the real thing :-) these are great!
Not the best gift for your 2yr old niece.
This is a cold sharp piece of steel used for separating things into multiple pieces, mainly food. This piece of steel works great if that is what you are looking to do with it. If you are looking for a gift to give to your 2yr old niece, this would not be the best product due to the sharp edges, I would try and look for a piece of steel with less sharp edges if that is what you are looking for. Hope this helps with you buying decision.
Tough and Sharp
I been looking a long time for a cleaver that was tough, sharp and stylish, this one definitely fit the description, true is that it's way better that I expected it to be, the weigh and feel it perfect it cut through anything and keeps the sharpness in the blade, I just love the Concord Cleaver.
The Best!
This Chinese cleaver is beyond my expectations, having purchased another one at a Chinese grocery. It is heavy! Solid stainless and brass - not only a work of art, feels right in the hand, and being so solid opens young coconuts so much better than my first cleaver. Love it. Definitely a gift item.
A fantastic tool.
This is a nice, heavy cleaver; really solid. It's almost a full 1/4" thick along the back of the blade, and the tang is full-width; the handle is all-metal, two shaped pieces of brass secured to the tang. The overall feel is very sturdy. The cleaver also has a hole for hanging.<br /><br />This knife performs well for all kinds of cutting. Obviously it works well for heavy jobs like opening coconuts or hacking up meat still on the bone, but I was surprised at how well it does more delicate cuts, too. I was able to reduce a steak to thin slices for stir-fry very quickly -- the weight of this knife will carry it halfway through a cut on inertia alone, and then an easy slicing motion will finish the job, again with the weight of the blade doing the work.<br /><br />Overall a great knife to add to even a small collection of kitchen tools, and an absolute steal at this price.
