Pretty and pretty effective!
My cat hated our pin slicker, and she's a long hair, so that was a problem. I genuinely needed to brush her but she wasn't having it! Regular plastic bristle brushes weren't getting into her thick undercoat enough to make a difference with her shedding and matting, but since this brush has a combo of plastic tipped and plain pins, it keeps her happy and doesn't scrape at her skin.<br /><br />She also had a bad habit of chewing the other brush, which had a rubbery grip. She likes chomping on things with that texture. With this brush, it's no concern even if she does chew. Plus it's so much prettier than our old blue and white plastic slicker! Which doesn't *really* matter, but I'd be lying if I didn't say the look was part of what sold me!

This is working perfect for my dog! She's a little Maltese with cotton type hair so I've found this brush to work perfect for her type hair. I've had other dogs over the years and don't believe this would be good for like a Golden only because this is more of a small/short/fine needle type brush so not sure that dogs with longer and thicker type hair would be as happy as I am.

Really helps remove mats which my Bichon is prone to get given that he has two coats. After I brush him I them use a rolling pin comb to get any remaining mats and to fluff him up.

We are constantly having to brush him which we could turn his shed balls into pillow stuffing. This brush's bristles are so fine, it captures everything! During bath time, we will use it to assist with a deeper cleaning rather than getting hair all over our hands. This brush is top notch!
