🔥 Real Customer Reviews
I wasn't sure about these, but discovered they work well.
I was worried that this hair tie would get tangled in my very curly hair, and that I would have regretted tying my hair up in it, but, that was not the case. It did not get tangled and it was fairly easy to take out. My hair wrapped a little in it, but really no worse than some elastic bands I have used. Once I figured out how to tie my hair up with it (with a little twist of my gathered hair) it was easier to do. And, it actually stayed in place. Elastic bands, especially when they are not real tight, do tend to slip in my hair, and these stayed put! I just wished the bands were a little longer to tie up into a big ponytail a little easier. But all in all this worked for me. A little pricey at $5 for one tie... I just better not lose it any time soon!
Unique Hair Toy
I've never seen anything quite like this invisibobble hair toy before. It's a completey new approach for curly-cord scrunchies since you put them on the same way you would put a twist-tie on. Wrap it around your hair and twist the two beads together to lock it into place. Then untwist the beads later to remove it.

The beads are nice and smooth and the curly cord is tightly wound and firmly attached to each bead, yet quite flexible. My beads are pink, which I adore, but I can already tell that I'd love to have them in lots of colors or designs.

The whole thing is smaller than I thought it would be. For some reason, I thought it would be about the size of those figure-8 ponytail holders with a bead at each end that we used to wear when we were little. It's much smaller than those. It's 2.5 inches (6.35 centimeters) from end to end if I just lay it on a table. I managed to comfortably stretch it out to 7 inches (17.78 centimeters) and it could surely stretch more, but I didn't want to force it.

2.5 inches isn't very much when it comes to wrapping it around the base of a pony tail or braid, though, so you'll most likely need to stretch it to put it on. That's a bit tricky to get the hang of, but you can mess around with it on someone else's hair or the ends of your hair if it's long or on a few strands from your mop or a twisted-up handkerchief or anything soft you can wrap it around. Once you get a feel for how to work it, you can use it in your hair.

It's designed to only need to wrap around your hair once, so it doesn't need to be very long. That said, I'd love a much longer one that I can wrap around my ponytail several times. That would make it so I could wrap it around the base of my bun as well, which would be a very cute look. I suppose you could get creative and twist several of these together to form a longer one with lots of beads along it. That would be extra cute, because you'd end up with several beads around your pony tail or bun.

In looking at it, I worried that it would eventually stretch out and no longer work, but apparently the company already thought of that and it's not an issue. If the cord stretches out, you can coil it tightly again simply by dropping the invisibobble into hot water for a few seconds or blowing on it with a blow dryer or setting it in the sun or dangling it above a heater. That's great news and encourages me to experiment with this thing and see how many ways I can figure out to use it.

Some folks have mentioned that these get tangled up in their hair while others have said they never tangle in their hair. I'm one of the people whose hair the invisibobble likes to get tangled up in. I suspect it has to do with whether your hair is straight or not. My hair has a bit of a wave to it, so it likes to grab onto (or be grabbed onto by) whatever it encounters. That said, if it gets tangled around your hair or if your hair gets tangled up around it, you can wiggle the cord to separate the coils and your hair will slide freely between them. Everything on the invisibobble is smooth, so you'll always be able to unwind or pull your hair out of it without pulling any of your hair out of your head or breaking any of it.

For those of you who get one and decide that it's not a hair toy you're comfortable using, it would make a great and very cute bag-tie or you could use it as a cord-keeper for cell-phone cords, etc. It has the added advantage in that you can put it on and take itthem off with one hand, freeing up your other hand to hold the coiled-up cord that you're managing. Not only that, but if you use it as a cord-keeper and want to use the cord, you can untwist the invisibobble, unwind the cord, and twist the invisibobble right back onto the cord, which will hang onto it for you until you need to put it away again. Then, all it will take is a quick untwist, coil, and twist to put the cord away.
Good for my thinning, but very curly hair
My hair isn’t very thick, it’s maybe shoulder length, and i sometimes wear it up, but i don’t have too much hair so regular scrunchies and hair elastics are too much for my thinning hair. This small thing works great on my particular length, thickness and curliness of hair. You just twiddle the bobbles around each other, and it makes my hair look classier than i thought it would. It works very well because of my curls. I did used to used the bigger spiral hair ties from this brand when I had thicker, longer hair, but those are too big for the amount of hair i have now. This works perfectly though. It’s just right.
Perfect for short to medium hair
My hair is maybe shoulder length, layered, and thinning, and i can twiddle one these up into my hair with no issues. I feel like someone with thicker hair might struggle getting one in.

I really like them, as they give me a messy, sort of updo kind of look, without it looking like a formal ponytail. Which is impossible for me anyway, with my layered curly thinning hair. In fact the only way for to achieve a smooth head of hair is to use a flatiron and a ton of product, and i just don’t do that. It looks unnatural on me. I like these for the ability to look casual and unstructured. When i had longer thicker hair,i used the original invisibobble spirals, which were a game changer. These products do not tangle in your hair like a regular hair elastic often does. The products made by this company have revolutionized ponytails.
Learning curve?
I don't think I've used this type of hair tie since I was little. I remember those ones that were a hair elastic with one or two big beads on them and I think these are similar.

I'm not sure if it's me or not but these weren't the easiest to put into my kid's hair. She has straight, sturdy asian hair and when I try to wrap this around her hair it's a little difficult. Maybe I'm not getting the technique correct and that's fine - we'll keep trying. She likes these though and they look cute when I finally get them in her hair. They seem to stay put unless she is running around a lot.

They're $5 and it only comes with one...I think the price is fine since it feels like it will last a while, just have to get the technique down.
Keep trying
This took me quite a few tries to get into my hair. I have curly, thick hair and it was difficult to get everything in and hold it in place while also putting in the hair tye. Once in, however, it didn't budge all through out my day of cleaning. That was definitely was worth the struggle. BUT I had a mini heart attack trying to get this back out of my hair haha you just have to be patient and kind of feel how it's wrapped to get it out. After getting used it over the past couple of weeks, I may need to get a few more !
Not great with fine, thin hair. A little difficult to twist.
I have fine, thin hair and was really hoping this would work as a cute ponytail tie for work.

I found that within just a few minutes, my hair started to slide out of the ponytail. Within a couple of hours, it was about 3/4 in and about 1/4 loose. That continued to progress to the day but never got so far as half and half. I just tried to embrace it as a cute "messy" look on casual Friday.

I did have some difficulty with twisting the beads until they were secure. I twisted them two or three times and thought that would be enough. It took more than that to keep them from popping apart. That resulted in it a little difficult to untangle at the end of the day.

I'm giving this item 4 stars as I feel it would perform well in thicker hair with more texture. Twisting it enough to make it secure but not tangled in a knot still might be tricky.
Surprisingly works!
I've never seen these in person but was excited to try something different that would be more gentle for my hair. I have fine, straight hair and have it pulled up a lot! The first time using it took several tries to figure out the twist so it would stay, but now it is very simple! The hold is much looser than I am used to, but it keeps all my hair in and my ponytail hasn't fallen! These are pretty cool little ponytail holders!! Going to order more!
