The jury is still out. I have been using it for only a couple of weeks, and so far, I have not seen any postitive results.
Brittle, splitting nail solution
I read that clear iodine helps repair and prevent brittle splitting nails and ridges, so I thought I'd give it a try. I've been using it a couple times a week and haven't broken a nail since. The ridges on my nails appear to be diminished and the nail itself is stronger. Soaks into the nailbed quickly.<br /><br />While it's too soon to say there are lasting results, I am happy with the results so far and it sure costs a lot less than other "so-called" nail repair products.
The stuff your grandma used to do magic with!
This item is magic! Magic because it does what many prescribed medicines do but better and faster, and you don't need a prescription for it!<br /><br />The smell is strong at first when you apply it, but it would just disappear after a short time. Don't allow it to come in contact with clothes or any material that discolors.<br /><br />The key to make it work is to apply it to your affected area in a consistent timetable. Many try it and just make odd applications some days and weeks, then miss the rest of the times. If you want results stick to a pattern of use that will have the best chance of reaching your goal. Don't apply it at times when you can't repeat it each day!<br /><br />The best times are morning after you bath/shower and before going to bed. Other than that, you can apply the third application between anytime of those two set schedules.

Exactly what I've been looking for. Unable to even place an order for colorless iodine at our local chain drugstores. Very happy to find this and at such a good price! Ordered several bottles, which arrived in good condition and timely! Thanks!
White Iodine
For more than twenty years, my fingernails have been soft and peeling off in layers like nail polish! I finally read about white iodine in Heloise's Hints. Within the first week of using it daily, the iodine bonded the peeling layers together! But took several months (until they had completely grown out to grow as strong and unbreakable as they are now. According to Heloise you're supposed to use it daily for one week and then after that once a week. I now (after a year and a half) only apply it once every two or three months! If you continue to use it too often it apparently makes nails too brittle!
Iodides tincture
This product works well for scrapes and scraches. It has been touted as a cure for weak and brittle nails by applying to your fingernails. It did not work for my nails which eventually turned yellow. The rating I gave it is for the intended use.
Just As Represented
I bought this product to apply to fingertips and nails. It is colorless and did not stain clothing or show up on skin. I would definitely buy it again.
