Smells bad but works well
This is the only OTC dandruf shampoo that has ever worked for me. I use it once per week as directed on the back of the bottle (leave in for 5 minutes then rinse) and my dandruff stays under control. Yes it smells awful, but you don't reak of it after.

GOOD SHAMPOO - HARD TO FIND
Growing up I had eczema and somehow got a wingworm that took my hair out in one spot. The dermatologist told my mother about this shampoo and since this we have been using this wonderful product. Now there are a few thing you will want to know about this...first thing is that this soap is very thin; it pours our like water and does not soap up really well in the first washing.But if you are like me, then you will rinse your hair out and do a "second washing". During the second wash you will notice that the soap suds extremely well, but the second thing is that it does strip the hello out the oils in your hair. So ladies, you will definitely want to deep condition your hair and use a light oil on your hair after you wash it in this shampoo. It is a great product and will help your hair to grow or atleast it did with mine and works excellent for getting rid of dandruff. I just wish they still made the Ionil plus conditioner - now that was the bomb!!! It worked great and smelled like bubble gum. So glad amazon carries Ionil since I can no longer find it in the stores.
DOES THE JOB
No latter build up which leads you to believe it does not work. It works alot better for me than blue selson or shoulders and head. Worth the extra money.
Great coal tar shampoo
Great for my scalp! Keeps the dandruff under control. Wish I could still get this stuff, the other OTC coal tar products just don't work the same.
Great shampoo
I've been using Ionil-T for over 35 years. I have had very dry skin ever since I was a kid and this is the only stuff that works. Not even the better smelling Ionil-T Plus works for me, just this particular tar shampoo, which is getting harder and harder to find. It is expensive but so is going to a dermatologist, and they don't come up with anything better than this. If you haven't used it for awhile and your scalp is itchy, it feels great to wash your hair with this shampoo. It tingles and goes to work right away. You would think that it was a harsh shampoo and would damage your hair, but this is not what I've experienced at all. It leaves my hair shiny and healthy feeling. Yes, the smell is strong when you first use it and it takes some getting used to and it is a very liquidy shampoo, but the results are worth it. I noticed this last time I purchased it, it seemed a bit thicker so maybe they are thickening it up a bit. Highly recommend.
Best Psoriasis shampoo product
Ionil shampoo is becoming more and more difficult to find. It works well enough (and the large bottle lasts at least a year), it is worth it to me to pay the high price for it. Like other reviewers, I've used this product for decades, and found it works best for me.<br /> I found other over-the-counter products left a heavy residue on my hair; Ionil rinses clean. You do get used to the smell -- it's not perfumy -- and the smell rinses out entirely. I put it on as soon as I start my shower; by the time I'm through washing, it has sat long enough (I find 2 or 3 minutes works well enough, and don't need the 5 minutes the directions suggest).<br /> Galderma used to manufacture it, but the last time I bought a bottle, it was made by Healthpoint. Healthpoint told me they dropped the Ionil with conditioner. Galderma used to make a separate Ionil conditioner that was the best conditioner I have yet to find; sad they no longer make it either.<br /> Those of us with psoriasis know that finding a product that works, whether it's shampoo, soap, body lotion, or medicine, is frustrating, so when you find one you want it to always be available.<br /> If you like this product, LET THE MANUFACTURER KNOW ABOUT IT!! Email the manufacturer! Have your friends who have psoriasis try it and, if they like it, encourage them to email the manufacturer! THAT IS THE ONLY WAY THIS PRODUCT WILL CONTINUE TO BE AVAILABLE!!! And, if more people buy it, there's a chance the price will go down if the manufacturer sees it as a profitable product (Well, we can hope).<br />Healthpoint was sold to Coria Laboratories in January 2004 (corialabs.com). At that time they still listed Ionil-T as one of their "Additional products".<br /> Dermadoctor.com lists Ionil-T as back ordered from the manufacturer until April 12, 2011.
