Lighter mount

Great build. Perfect fit and lighter than original ring mount with an attached acra mount. VERY Happy!

Perfect so far!

Just received this today. Put it on my Canon 28-300 L lens. Perfect fit. Love the built in Arca plate so I can use my previous plate on another lens or camera. Very fair price! Saved tons of money over the overpriced Canon OEM part. Seems perfect so far! If it breaks, I’ll update my review.

built in ARCA mount

I bought this mount ring for a Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L. The fit and finish is very nice. It does not scratch the white paint on the lens. It has a built in ARCA compatible mount which was a requirement for me. It is machined with rounded corners so it feels nice when hand holding the lens. The screw knob is spring loaded and must be pulled out to release the connection to the other half of the collar. It is easy to install and remove and holds the lens tight. My only complaint is that the screw knob is in an awkward location when hand holding the lens.

Very practial and cost effective

Canon does not include a tripod collar with this lens and purchasing it, separately, is costly. I reviewed several non-Canon offerings and chose this brand and, thus far, I am quite pleased with it. (1) It is black (not the Canon L lens off-white color) but fits the overall color scheme well, given the two fairly large black zoom and manual focus rings as well as the black lens hood. I like it. (2) The fit is quite good--very snug when clamped down. It can rotate so the tripod plate and clamping mechanism can be atop the lens so that it is more comfortable when hand-held. (3) The tripod plate has the mounting groves for a tripod head or gimbal so a separate mounting plate is unnecessary, a very good feature.

works with the Zeiss Apo Sonnar T* 2/135 ZE with less-than-complete contact

I used this with a Zeiss Apo Sonnar T* 2/135 ZE on a Wimberly head to shoot multi-row panos and it worked well.

It fits just camera-side of the knurled portion with the hyperfocal markings.
The smallness of this area meant that the entire clamping surface was not in contact with the lens, but I was able to tighten this enough to to make the connection sufficiently rigid.

Save yourself 140 bux in Canon dollars!

Using this on my EF 70-300 f4L. It fits perfectly, appears stronger than the Canon (cast) mount and I still can't believe that canon gets $165 for it. This mount is a winner, and in the twenty-dollar range!

It does fit

Although I had concerns of being able to use it on my Tamron SP 70-300mm lens. Yes, it did work fine for my needs in balancing my camera and lens on the gimbal.
