The Real Deal
What I love about Murray's Pomade is the authenticity of it - it's REAL pomade - opposed to all those water-soluble gels they call pomade these days (granted I wear them sometimes for their scents). When I came across Murray's Vintage Edition Pomade, I had to give it a try, to experience what the old-timers referred to as pomade, and not what we are confused with today. Even if I happen to fall into the lake kissing my girl, my hair will still look good - thanks to Murray's ;)
Classic Pomade since 1926
I have been using this brand of Pomade for well over 20 years; 24 years, I gotta say the Old 1926 Artwork from the original release of the brand is why I had to get another can, I got the “Vintage sent & artwork” Murray’s a few weeks before I ordered up this 2nd, I know it says Vintage formula, however Like I said I been using it since I was a kid and it smells the same, however I have not used it for a few years up till. March this year, they could of changed the sent in the last few years and this is the smell and stuff I really like and remember, love the artwork form the original 1926 Orange can and love then product forever. It’s cool to use it again after years of other Stuff. Sent and arrived at my home fine and was brought at a fair price
This stuff is AWESOME!!!
I have used the original Murray's Superior many times over the years...usually when in a pinch or when my preferred pomades were not available. I'm not going to lie...I've never cared for it. The scent has historically smelled like one of your grandmother's candles and the consistency was not unlike, well...glue...and not in a good way. It did not spread easily, comb through easily or come out easily and I often felt like I pulled out more hair the usual using it. It also tended to be rather greasy, even though most heavy pomades offer more of a matte finish.

I'm pleased to say that this Vintage Fragrance formulation of Murray' Superior is quite different. It still holds well, but is creamier and less glue-like. It spreads and combs much more easily through the hair, but doesn't seem any less effective at holding a pompadour hairstyle neatly in place with a matte finish. It also has a pleasant fragrance to it...sort of a floral fragrance, but not at all unmasculine. I'm not too good at describing it, but finding a scent is one of the hardest things for me with pomades. Most pomades either have a good scent that is too strong, no real scent at all or a gimmicky, unmasculine scent (like bubble gum or pineapple). Some of the more new school ones just smell like chemicals. This Murray's formulation smells like something out of an old-school barber shop...something your dad or granddad would have worn on date night to slay the ladies. Murray's hit it out of the park with this one. I'm not sure if this is a limited edition or an ongoing product, so I'm going to buy a few more cans while I can.

As to my ratings...I did 4 out of 5 on value because, even though it's a good price for a can of pomade, it is on the high side for Murrays. Scent = 5 out of 5. Easy to clean...well, it's an oil-based pomade, so not exactly easy to clean, BUT it DOES come out much more easily than traditional Murray's Superior. So that's a plus. Will buy this again. It may just be my current fave. I like the new oil-based Suavacito too, but its scent, while nice, is a bit overbearing.

Try this stuff. Thank me later.
Does the job
It’s hair grease lol. Does the job
Goes on slick and doesn’t quit!
Love this stuff!
Was skeptical about it since my very first interaction with pomade was its predecessor, the OG, and I had no idea how to use pomade and it took forever and a miracle to wash out of my hair.

Anyways, after reading reviews, google searches on best pomades and tutorial videos I decided to give this goop a try.
Loved it the very first time. Was super easy to scoop, and work in to my hair.

Was a little worried it would weigh my hair down by the time I got out of the house but it didn’t. Keeps its shape and is easily rework-able.

One thing I will say is that even though it washes out much easier then the original, it still leaves a trace amount in your hair the next day. However, I’ve come to utilize this because it allows me to style it once more without adding anything else to it.

Very versatile. Smells great.
Highly recommend for anyone beginning their pomade journey.

Next on the list is Goon Grease!
A must have for those really bad hair days!
Yup, it’s the go-to for traditional rockabilly/greaser guy. I’ve been using it for 25 years!
