First Acrylic Plate

I was a little skeptical about purchasing an acrylic stamping plate, as all my many others are the usual metal, and I knew nothing at all about plates made from anything else. Moreover, it meant buying a non-acetone polish remover, as acetone (which is used to clean metal plates) is the kiss of death for acrylics. But it wasn’t expensive, so I went ahead and bought a bottle, in preparation for the arrival of this plate. This plate had so many simple designs that I wanted, but didn’t have, like a basic chevron, diagonal lines, vertical and horizontal lines, and gradient dots. I loved the diminutive leopard print, since many of those designs are too big for my tiny nails. And a complete upper case and lower case alphabet?? Count me in!<br /><br />The plate arrived just a few days before Christmas, so when I got it, I stashed it away, intending to play with it later. Later came today, and I’m in love! I tried out several stamping polishes with it, and most all of the designs. Even the polishes that have given me trouble in the past on metal plates picked up perfectly! The designs are all sharp and distinct. I believe that is due to the depth at which the designs are etched. They are nice and generous, meaning that even the smallest and finest of lines and features come out bold and beautiful.<br /><br />Clean up is truly a breeze using the non-acetone remover on a cotton ball. And there is no chilling effect from acetone, which tends to dry out your stamping polish on the plate faster.<br /><br />Often, trying something outside of the ordinary can yield stellar results. This is one such case. This plate is so good that I’m currently checking out all the other H la Cosedora plates here on Amazon. And of course, I’m going to pick up another bottle of non-acetone remover!
