I love this birch tar Russian soap
I love this birch tar Russian soap! This is such a luxurious soap that lathers well and doesn't leave my skin feeling desiccated. It also doesn't leave behind any residue which is wonderful. The smell can be a bit strong, but I don't mind it--it smells like wood fire and tobacco (quite a masculine scent, but it isn't as overpowering once you dry off). The ingredients in this soap gently remove impurities in the skin, leaving my skin feeling refreshed and wonderful. The ingredients in the soap have so many skincare properties including being beneficial for acne, hydrating the skin, and combating psoriasis and eczema. The last one is especially helpful to me because I have sensitive, easily irritable skin that reacts to a lot of skincare products. This bar of soap relieves any itchiness I might suffer from and helps remove dryness from my skin. I'm surprised by what a high quality product this soap is and consider the listing price very reasonable for a well-made soap that doesn't skimp out on ingredients (or quantity)! Seriously, this is a massive amount of soap and a bargain at the list price. I use this mostly as a body soap but sometimes as a face wash as well. My morning showers have greatly improved as a result of this soothing product. I'm very pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quality bar of soap! Great soap for dry skin and everyday use
I've been on a bar soap kick lately, trying different types and scents. I'll say that scent only goes so far with most soaps though it does carry some weight. For me, it's the lasting quality and the effect it has on your skin and complexion. This soap, made from birch and other natural ingredients, is like one of those old timey products that you know are good and natural and likely good for you. My skin has responded well to it and I like how long the bars last, showing their quality. The only off-putting aspect of it might be the scent which is from the tar in the soap, which if you look at any quality anti-dandruff shampoo, has the same tar ingredient. I assume this has a positive effect on dry skin. If you don't like the smell, which takes some getting used to, know that it will go away after a few minutes and all you'll have left is the nice effect of good soap.<br /><br />I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review.
Good Soap. Has a Scent All it's Own Though
This soap lathers really really well. It also cleans really really well. The bars will last a good long time with regular use. Keep bar dry in between uses.<br /> It says it has a smell that will linger for about 10 minutes after you use it. It lasted longer than that for me. It reminds me of when we have the creosote cleaned from the wood stove pipes. And that does make sense thinking this is Birch Tar soap.<br /> It cleans good but if you use too much it will be tough to wash off if you have softened water like I do.<br /> I use it at night when I am at home and done for the day. That way I don't smell like that going to work. I knew what it was going to be smelling like going into it. Now you do too. It won't stain your skin or anything at all like that. Maybe don't use it on a super white washcloth but otherwise it should be okay.<br /> I received this product at a discounted rate in trade for my honest and unbiased review.
Great Soap!
I wasn't sure what to expect with this soap, the package is in another language, but it did have great reviews so I thought I would give it a try. When I first took it out of the package I noticed it didn't have a huge scent, it is kind of an odd scent that I can't pin point. It doesn't smell bad, but it doesn't smell good either lol. Then I used it and it is so smooth and left my skin feeling great and nourished. I am very pleased with my order and it is a better value since it came with two bars. I would purchase this again.
Smells weird, but stepson loves it
I got this for my step son, who has both acne and a weird obsession with all things Russian. Seemed like a perfect match to me. The smell is...different for sure but he says he likes it. As long as he is bathing I call that a win. I imagine it will work well for his face, considering it has given him the motivation to actually wash his since he is so interested in this soap. I wouldn't use it, because the only way I can describe the smell is masculine maybe? hard to describe really. But hey, as long as he likes it I guess.
