Awesome kit for my d7200.. the free class was good as well. Both lens exceeded my expectations
An Excellent Kit and a Good Value
This was a very nice kit. The lenses produce clear and awesome images on my D5500. As you probably know, a fixed lens is a good choice for portraiture. The fixed optics will be a touch sharper but you must be willing to move the camera backward or forward to properly frame your subject due to the lack of zoom capability. Cropping the image is not a good idea either because it will sacrifice some image quality. In a studio setting or even when you are "out and about" it's usually not that big a deal. If it is, you can always just switch back to your zoom (kit) lens. By opening up the aperture you can do magic in terms of blurring the background to make your subject stand out. The macro capability of the 85 mm is also nice to have for versatility shooting very close objects. The two little booklets, A Guide to Macro Photography and A Guide to Portrait Photography are like a "quick start guide" and easily read in just a few minutes. I watched the Craftsy online Photography Class which was excellent. It covers the basics, plus provides quite a number of ideas to enhance photographic creativity. The Flash Photography DVD from the Nikon School was also very good. I do not have any Nikon flash units. The DVD covers how to program the Nikon flash units to take great pictures. I have a couple of much less expensive flash units (such as the one included here). The lighting principles that are covered still apply and I found the DVD very helpful.

Bought for my daughter who is starting a career in photography & it is an excellent kit. Works great and takes excellent photos on her Nikon D 5300. She was excited to get them and if I would have bought them all separately it would have been around 700. Well worth the money.
