Excellent Shaver
This Norelco Shaver is the best shave that I've had with an electric. I've only had this shaver for about a month, but from the first time I used it, I couldn't beleive how quiet it was. So far I'm very pleased with this shaver.

Norelco still makes the best razor
I tried though-out the years all kind of razors and I am always coming back to Norelco. Excelletn product. however I recommend that you buy spare knives when you order the razor, because norelco has so many different cutters and you never get the ones you need.<br />The 9160 XL is very, very quiet. I like the feature that you can wash it, but you should not do it too often. It will clog your sink. With dry cleaning you never get your razor 100% clean. With hot water you do. Modern desigh. Also good feature that you know how much power is left
Perfect so far
This new razor replaces my Norelco Tripleheader Speedrazor Model HP-1615 that I purchased in 1985 and has given me superb service for all these years without having to be serviced. But it had been making some loud clacking sounds lately and it does not give the close shave it once had. I did not want a razor that required me to constantly spend money on special cleaners, etc. I did not have to spend one penny on my 1985 model after I purchased it. Although it is early, I have been using it for only three weeks, it has done a great job. The original charging of the battery was fast. I have yet to recharge it in spite of daily use. It gives a very fast and very quite shave. I tend to suffer from red neck syndrome from shaving, but so far no problem with this razor. I have it on the sensitive setting and I still receive a close shave. Since this razor comes directly from Amazon, there is no problem in receiving it as with a third party supplier (Amazon uses either USPS or UPS, the only consumer friendly shipping people). My final decision to purchase this razor came after reading all the reviews, which I find invaluable. Consumer magazines only review items such as razors only once every few years. Kudos to Amazon for making the whole process painless and allow me to obtain a quality product.

Smooth Quiet Shave
I have used electric shavers almost 40 years. I can tell you this product gives me as close or a closer shave than any of my previous models. That includes some very expensive foil models that plug into cleaning machines between shaves. One of the best features of the 9160XL is that it is so quiet. It is so quiet that at first I did not think it could be doing a very good job shaving. I was associating a loud shaver with a close shave. I was wrong. This shaver gives you a close, smooth shave without all the noise.

Hello All,<br /><br />I purchased this razor as a replacement for my dying Norelco 4821XL which I purchased about ten years ago. I have been a loyal Norelco fan for 30+ years and with the addition of the Norelco 9160XL, I hope to continue that tradition. The first thing I noticed about the 9160 is HOW QUIET IT IS! My old razor made so much noise that it was like shaving with a hedge trimmer. The first time I turned on the 9160 I had to double check that the batteries were charge because of how quiet and smooth it runs. The next thing I am happy to report is how close and smooth a shave it produces. WOW!<br /><br />The only negative I can say about the razor is that there is SO MUCH PLASTIC on it that I am concerned about how well the unit will hold up with age. In addition, the lock for the trimmer is rather difficult to get your finer on to release especially if you do not have long fingernails. I wonder if Norelco (and I hope you are reading this) could make the ridges on the trimmer release a wee bit higher so that those of us fingernail challenged people can have less trouble releasing the latch?!<br /><br />Short of that minor annoyance, the razor is lightweight, quiet and produces a great close shave that will have your face as smooth as a baby's bottom. If you want a great razor I would look no further and jump on this puppy also while you are at it you might want to pickup a set of the HQ9 replacement heads so that down the road when the razor tells you that heads need replacing you have a spare set to replace them with.<br /><br />Ciao!
