Great Value
I have been very pleased with this grooming set. You get a heck of a lot for the price. Basic trimming, sideburn trimming, beard and mustache trimming, nose trimming, etc. The different parts can be swapped out easily, it has trimming level adjustments, and this has been a great tool for me to tame unruly sideburns, etc.
Great all in 1 groomer
What can I say. This gives a great haircut and all the other features are a big plus. battery life is good. It is light and a very good product.
Many uses and does a good job
I'm not much of a writer so the title will tell it all. I haven't used all the options the shaver provides yet but it does a good job.<br /><br />The cordless feature and the fact that it hasn't failed to cut even my friends nappy hair makes up for the fact that it isn't as powerful as one of the trimmers you might find at a hair salon or barber shop.
Unbelievable battery performance!
I rarely take the time to write reviews, but always appreciate them. Well, let me tell you something about this amazing little trimmer. I shaved off my beard on Thanksgiving day, 2007, and I hadn't used the trimmer since then. Now, seven years later I've decided to regrow my beard. I couldn't remember if this product was rechargeable or if it used batteries. Well, it's rechargeable, so I figured, "Well, that's it - I'll have to get a new trimmer." Not so - I put on one of the attachments and it buzzed away like a trooper. What kind of product with a rechargeable battery can sit for seven years unused and hold a full charge? A Norelco can!<br /><br />I've also had a couple of PHILIPS Norelco electric shavers which I can highly recommend. The only reason I have had two is because I accidentally threw the first one away and didn't realize until the garbage truck had already taken it. Go with Norelco/Philips Norelco and you won't be sorry.
Norelco is a great company
I bought this trimmer 2 years ago and have had excellent use from it. The only problem I ever had was I broke two teeth off the beard trimmer guard. I called Norelco to inquire about purchasing just the guard. They told me that they did not sell just the guard. I instantly thought "Oh Well. Guess I got to go buy another trimmer" When the lady asked when i bought the trimmer. I told her July of 2004. She asked for my address and said she would send me a pre-paid mailing label and to send them the whole trimmer and they would send me a brand new kit to replace my current one. I got it back in two weeks. Well, looks like I am getting more than my moneys worth. From now on, i will try to by Phillips/Norelco in everything I get. Excellent customer service, warranty, and product. I use my trimmer to keep the gotee looking clean and to keep my head shaved, so it gets alot of use, lol.
for what it's worth
This model is likely discontinued, I saw it on sale at best buy about a year ago for $30. I have been using mine for ~3 yrs now, and I must say it's a dandy. I picked up a cheap Conair which doesn't do near as nice a job. I just purchased the Wahl 79524-1001 Deluxe Chrome Pro with Multi-Cut Clipper & Trimmer to replace this as the battery is so bad these days that I have to charge it for at least 1/2 an hour to get a decent beard trim or haircut. That said, for $30 I have definitely gotten my money's worth, bi-weekly haircuts and 3x / week beard trims has made it more than a worthwhile investment I'd say.
Very good unit
This is an excellent little kit, besides the standard beard and mustache trimmer(s) (which works really well) it has lots of additional attachments including one that allows you to do nose and ear trimming, which I must say is a nice little bonus. This unit does the job as well as anything else I've ever used and makes very straight cuts. With all the attachments it's a very good bang for the buck.<br />The reason for only 4 stars is because it is not water proof/resistant and it does not have a battery level indicator which are minor inconveniences but would be nice to add to future models.
Good, with one Caveat
I really like this shaver and I use it a lot. I write a lot of reviews on Amazon that are for fun only and not serious, but believe me, I am being serious here.<br /><br />This shaver has lots of good features, and it definitely does pay for itself. I'm a guy who just likes having a crew cut, and this shaver is perfect for that. Why go to the store and pay $15 to have some stranger cut your hair (and have to waste your time waiting until they can get to you) when you can just buy this baby and do it yourself? Or better yet, have your significant other help you out and do it for you. It has already paid for itself several times over. (I like Setting 2, myself.)<br /><br />Also very useful is the nose hair trimmer. This is not something that guys like to talk about very often but it happens to the best of us and there's no shame in trimming that unsightly growth out. This one is very useful. You just clip it in, turn it on, and jam that sucker up your nostril. Again, VERY useful.<br /><br />The rest of the attachments were okay but not necessary, in my opinion.<br /><br />So why 4 stars? Because of an accident that I had once with this thing, a manufacturer problem. I had started shaving my head and the power went out. Apparently it wasn't fully charged. So I was left with stripes of bald patches running down my hair, and it looked extremely bad.<br /><br />I recharged it overnight, but had to go to work the next morning and didn't have time to finish the job before I left. So I had to go to work with my hair looking all nappy like I had been suffering from radiation fallout sickness or something. I had to hole up in my office all day, so I would not be seen.<br /><br />This disaster could have been easily averted had the power supply on this thing been set up so that you can use the device while it is plugged in. Only it doesn't work that way. It is not set up to operate off of a power supply. It is only set up to operate off of its charge. So when it is plugged in, it is only charging the battery. If the battery is dead, then it won't turn on and you can't use it even when it is plugged in!<br /><br />Whoever heard of such a crazy arrangement? This is totally unlike the other Norelco shaver (the 3-disc beard shaver). It makes me want to give it 1 star, but that would be unfair.<br /><br />So basically here is my advice: Make sure that this thing is well-charged before you put it to your head. Otherwise, you may be sorry! Take it from somebody who has been there.
