Thickens and strengthens

While I'm not a "new" mother, I was on a temporary medication that was causing hair loss and this shampoo brought my hair back to life in just 3 short weeks!<br />My hair is fine so I really needed a boost quickly and this shampoo worked magic. Gentle & hydrating - unscented

I ordered this shampoo without knowing anything about keratin use in hair products, so I did some reading once I recieved it and reviewed the ingredients. The first thing that I found is that you cannot extract keratin from plant material, it can only be derived from animals, birds or reptiles. So why does this label say "vegan & cruelty-free "? Because it doesn't contain keratin, it contains (according to Shapiro MD) - " three key potent, naturally occurring ingredients: saw palmetto berry extract (SPBE), epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), and caffeine derivative".<br />Then I found that the only keratin that can actually benefit your hair is human keratin - keratin that is sourced from animals isn't even close in composition to human keratin, anyway and will not benefit your hair at all, according to what I read. <br />Products like this one are advertised as containing vegan keratin, supposedly synthesized from amino acids extracted from plants, or plant-based proteins - they can benefit your hair, but the "keratin" claim is misleading and really nothing more than a gimmick. (Like when nutritional supplements are called "vegan collagen" - there is no such thing, there are only vegan substitutes). I used this shampoo twice and thought it did a great job of cleansing my hair without drying it out. This has some good ingredients for stimulating hair follicles and hydrating scalp, follicles and hair, along with DHT blocking ability. If they took "keratin" off the label, I'd give it 5 stars.
