An Honest (Long) Review
I waited 2 months after purchase to write this review so I could give an honest review. Local salons have been closed due to Covid 19 and, honestly, I am tired of paying $300+ for weaves so this u-part wig has been a lifesaver. I believe I ordered the 14 inch 180% density and I love it. The hair is soft, minimal shedding and with proper care, I believe this hair can last at least 3 months. I wouldn't wear this hair beyond 3 months. Here are a few do's and don't to make sure you get your $'s worth after purchase.<br /><br />Don't:<br />Wear this hair while working out - excessive sweat will cause this hair to tangle at the nape<br />Wear this hair while sleeping - this will cause this hair to tangle<br />Apply shampoo or conditioner directly to the hair - product buildup will weigh the hair down and cause tangling<br />Wear tight fitting hats with this wig - this may cause pulling and damage to your hair<br /><br />Do:<br />Take the hair off at night - Comb the hair using a wide tooth comb and hang it up. I use a hanger, butterfly clips and hang the hair in my closet<br />Wash weekly - fill the basin of your sink with warm water and shampoo. Begin washing by putting the hair in your sink and swishing the hair around with your fingers. Drain and repeat as needed. Do the same with your conditioner. Apply leave-in and anti-frizz products lightly.<br />Finger comb the hair throughout the day - this removes tangles<br />Take your time when removing this wig - the clips can damage your hair so please take care when removing the wig<br /><br />Lastly, I read that a few folks experienced issues with the cap size. The cap is big, but can be adjusted to fit your head. It is important to braid your hair under the wig as this helps with placement and adjustment of the clips and combs. Bonus: once you braid your hair this now becomes a protective style. I found that the best braid pattern for this wig is cornrows - straight back. I usually have about 17 cornrows after my braid down (I am not the best braider). The placement of the side combs plays an important part in adjusting the wig. Since the cap is too big for me, I can't place the side combs on my outer cornrows, I have to go at least 3 cornrows in for the wig to lay nicely (I hope this makes sense). When I do this, I get more styling options, including tucking the hair behind my ears. To reinforce the wig, you can use bobby pins.<br /><br />Although, I love the wig, I had to deduct a star because one of the top clips pulls my hair out. I am still trying to find a way to mitigate this. Right now, I am just using bobby pins instead of the clip. It's not enough for me to discontinue wearing the wig, but it is enough for me to notice.<br /><br />I hope this review will help you make an informed decision on your purchase.
