This is my third turbie towel. I've worn out the other two over several years. It's the elastic loop that eventually stretches out. I'm not sure any sort of mechanical fastener would be as comfortable to wear - I even sleep it mine!<br />I love this hair towel. It really reduces the time I need to use the hair dryer.<br />I have really thick hair, and this works great! I just roll it up (jelly roll style for you bakers), tuck it in and go about my post-shower routine. It works great even when I had my hair really long (past the shoulders)
