very helpful for pancreatitis in a senior dog
I have an eternally voracious 14 year old basset hound who had a painful bout of pancreatitis last year. I worked in animal hospitals for years, so I already knew to avoid feeding him fatty food or treats, especially as he ages & overall organ function declines. After he received subcutaneous fluids & anti-nausea meds at the vet, he had to eat tiny, frequent meals of a prescription diet to get the inflammation down. I added one capsule of these enzymes to his food once daily for those first few weeks, and it seemed to help. Eventually we discontinued the enzymes, and he was fine for a few months. Then he scared us by vomiting continuously one night while we were asleep.<br /><br />At the first sign of vomiting I usually give a tablet of plain Pepcid and either skip the next meal, or feed 1/2 the normal amount. I did that again, and also added a capsule of these enzymes to both of his daily meals for a few days. The vomiting stopped right away (yay!), and he showed no signs of nausea or abdominal discomfort (drooling, lack of appetite, restlessness, being unable to get comfortable in his usual resting spots, etc.).<br /><br />We now give this to him daily along with his usual meds & supplements (he has hypothyroidism & osteoarthritis). It's nice to have something that helps him feel better and prevents expensive emergency vet visits.<br /><br />Important note: if your dog is vomiting, having diarrhea, or ESPECIALLY experiencing both, please contact a veterinarian. Pancreatitis is extremely painful and can be a life-threatening emergency. I only give my dog supplements approved by his veterinarian. Please consult your pet's vet before giving them any supplements or other substance, especially if they are on medication. A quick phone call just to be safe can prevent a painful, expensive emergency or even save a pet's life!

Simply the best- Brand Wise- for this enzyme.
I have tried other brands and so far, none has worked as well for me as the TwinLab brand.<br /><br />You have to try a product like this for yourself, to know if it will work well for you.<br /><br />There is no getting around that fact.<br /><br />I am only offering a personal vouch for the product based on my experience with it.<br /><br />If you have tried other brands with no success or poor results, give this brand a shot.<br /><br />Anyone reviewing vitamins and supplements in a favorable way, is basically saying it works for them or many of their patients.<br /><br /> A high star rating is something I typically look at, when considering buying an item on AMAZON.<br /><br />But with this kind of product( and pretty much all vitamins/supplements) you really need to try it yourself, even if you see it has great reviews.
