The hair does not shed.
The human hair Afro puff natural color matched my hair, I was able to wash the puff and add hair product to it like it was my own hair. As I am growing out my natural hair, this puff allows me the ability to put my hair in a low manipulation hairstyle. The only downside to the puff is the way it smells before you wash it.
