Absolutely necessary! I had to trim up 2 Malamutes and 4 Newfoundlands. The #7 ceramic blade heated up pretty quick, so the oil and the cool care made the difference! All are trimmed and cooler, now, in this Texas heat.

Great clipper oil. Have used for a variety of items. I was going to buy 1 bottle, but on amazon found a case of six bottles that was the price of 2 individual bottles.
